At Dance Arts Academy, we often talk about the importance of making dance accessible to students. But today, I want to ask an important question:
What about the adults?
So many of us pour into our families, our work, and our communities that we forget to pour back into ourselves. I challenge you to turn on a song and move your body, even if it’s just marching in place in your living room.
Movement doesn’t have to be fancy. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be yours.
When we move, we support our circulation, our mental health, and most importantly, we ground ourselves in an intuitive and embodied way. Movement reconnects us to ourselves. And when we reconnect to ourselves, something powerful happens, we remember that we are capable, resilient, and worthy of care. That’s where movement transforms into empowerment. And empowerment doesn’t stop with us. Part of being empowered and part of being a true leader, is being a connector. It’s about building bridges, opening doors, and creating space for others to thrive.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO KIM SHEPHERD
This week, we want to give a heartfelt shout-out and special recognition to Kim Shepherd, a valued community partner and champion of our work. Kim played a pivotal role in helping our founder see herself not just as an artist and educator, but as a philanthropist and in cultivating meaningful connections throughout our community that have allowed Dance Arts Academy Foundation to make an even bigger impact.
Thank you, Kim, for your belief, your leadership, and your commitment to helping us grow something bigger than ourselves. We are deeply grateful for you.
